Cashew Festival

Panaji, capital city of Goa, hosts an annual cashew festival. Locally known as 'Kaju Charter', this colourful celebration sheds light on the cultural and agricultural importance of cashews in the region. 

Introduced by Portuguese colonisers in the 16th century, cashew cultivation has long been an integral part of Goa's economy. 

The festival, which usually falls between February and early April, transforms Panaji into a vibrant fusion of tradition and modernity. It showcases the likes of Konkani folk dances, cashew processing demonstrations, culinary delights and cashew-based products.

Heritage Festival

The Heritage Festival in Saligao, North Goa, is a vibrant annual event held in April. Organised by Goa's tourism department and inaugurated by notable dignitaries, it features an array of activities that highlight Goa's traditions and arts. 

Attendees can enjoy a fashion show, traditional Goan games, pottery demonstrations, workshops on drama and theatre, film screenings, a Marathi-Konkani book exhibition, a heritage photography exhibit, and a craft bazaar.
