Bali comes alive in April under bright, clear skies. The magical Indonesian island starts calling out adventurers around this time, with its ideal weather conditions inviting them to take in its diverse landscape and cultural treasures with a lot fewer crowds and at great values. And now, read on to learn about the weather in Bali in April and how to pack accordingly for your trip in this spring month.

Is April a good month to visit Bali?

April is an excellent month in the Bali calendar—it combines little of everything: ideal weather and manageable tourist numbers. Full dry season hit Bali by April, featuring much sunnier days and very little rain.

Such a climate shift means a world of endless possibilities when it comes to the outdoor explorations. Whether you're going snorkelling and diving into the crystal-clear waters, catching waves when surfing, or taking in the expanse of the rice terraces in Sidemen and grandeur of the temples, there's something here for the nature lover.

In April, the tourist flow hasn't yet reached the peak, so one can explore hotspots in Bali, like Ubud, Canggu, Mount Agung, Uluwatu Temple, and beaches in Nusa Dua with even more intimacy. The time also gives flexibility to plan day or dining spontaneously without thinking about waiting long or booking much in advance. April on Bali promises adventures that are as rich as they are personal.

Temperatures in Bali in April

The warm April Bali weather is perfect for spending days at the beach, enjoying the natural beauty and cultural colours of the island.

Expect warm temps ranging from 25-32°C (77-90°F) under the sun. Compared to the beaches, the water within and around would be very nice for swimming, with an approximate sea temp of 29°C (84°F). Hence, dive right in.

Bali in April is a paradise for those looking to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.

What about the crowd & cost?

By April, the visitor numbers will have increased, and the weather will start signalling the peak of the dry season. However, it is still far from being as crowded as in the high season months of July and August or holiday months like December.

Also, this time of the year, the charges for accommodation and flights are way cheaper than the peak season; thus, it is cheaper to have a wilderness adventure during this time.

How rainy is Bali in April?

The temperatures are warming up, and the rainy season is already out of the calendar. In the season of drought, April receives very little rain, and it happens to be a very excellent month to travel to Bali.

Only a few drizzles can be found occasionally—mostly light, just meant to clear the air from the heat. A light raincoat or an umbrella could be packed, but there's not going to be any heavy-duty one required for your trip.

Rough Guides tip: the rainy season in Bali runs from October to February.

What to see in Bali in April

Bali in April is vibrant, offering a plethora of sights and experiences:

Celebrate Galungan

Witness the celebration of the beginning of Galungan's festival, where Dharma wins over Adharma, and now the bamboo poles look perfectly alive and decorated all over the island.

Sunset at Tanah Lot Temple

View the sunset at the Tanah Lot Temple, one of the essential sea temples among many that dot the coastline in Bali. The setting offshore combines with the golden hues at sunset to give an ultimate postcard view of it from the temple.

Wander through rice fields

Wander through the verdant rice fields, including a visit to the serene Sidemen valley. This area is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, offering a glimpse into Bali's agricultural heartland.

Sidemen in Bali, one of the best Indonesian islands

Tirta Empul Temple

Bathe in the holy waters of Tirta Empul, where a temple was established for a spring of holy water. Bathe and purify one's body in a ritual at the serene ambiance of the temple.

Arts and Culture

Explore the richness of Balinese artistic wholesomeness. Check out the Ubud art market, selling handicrafts, and don't miss traditional performances in the evening showing off Bali's rich cultural heritage.

April blooms in Bali—a perfect cultural affair, perfect weather, and a lot of fun without the masses. Ideal for the adventure seekers of Bali's splendid mix of natural beauty and cultural riches.
