Does anyone have any suggestions for a winter weekend in Derbyshire? We’re staying at the Hartington YHA in the Peak District and are after suggestions for daytime activities.
We’re a mixed-age group, all of whom like hiking/walking and being outdoors, and we’re all interested in ecological matters.
Of course you’ll be packing your waterproofs…
There are good walks to be had in the Manifold Valley and at Dovedale (start at the quieter top end – it can get busy on sunny afternoons, but you’ll probably be spared that!).
There’s also the Tissington Trail or High Peak Trail for cycling or walking. Tissington itself is a very pretty village.
And if you feel so inclined, there are snowdrops galore to admire at Hopton Hall until early March.
Thanks Monica, that sounds exactly like the kind of things we’ll want to do.
Waterproofs, yes! And snow boots, thermals, emergency duvets and recommendations for cosy warms local pubs on the way!
