@TellaTravel asked on Twitter about the best places to take 2 toddlers in Istanbul. Any child-friendly suggestions?
The Princes’ Islands are a haven of calm with oodles of space for children to run around and let off steam. Just 50 minutes by ferry from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, the Islands (Adalar, as they are known locally) are a world away in ambience and pace – there is no motorised transport allowed for starters, so visitors explore by foot, bicycle or horse-drawn carriage.
Avoid the often crowded public beaches and instead opt for one of the numerous beach clubs. This is the Sea of Marmara, so don’t expect golden sands and turquoise water, but it’s perfectly fine for a paddle. For a daily charge of around a tenner (sterling) you will have access to showers and restaurant facilities. Some even have swimming pools (www.istanbulislands.com/index.php/abo...).
Also worth a look are Miniaturk (cheap in at 10 TL for adults www.miniaturk.com.tr/rehber.php); the Rahmi M. Koc Museum, complete with planetarium and submarine (www.rmk-museum.org.tr/english/); and Turkuazoo Aquarium, supposedly Europe’s largest (www.turkuazoo.com/en/)
