Key Largo has some of the widest selections of reasonably priced accommodation in the Keys, with many of the motels offering diving packages. Among the cheaper options, there’s the basic but clean Ed & Allen’s Lodgings, MM103.5-Oceanside (t 1-888/333-5536, w http://www.ed-ellens-lodgings.com; $61–100), or the gloriously quirky, adult-only Largo Lodge, MM101.5-Bayside (t 1-800/468-4378, w http://www.largolodge.com; $101–160). For something a bit more luxurious, try the huge, stylish chalets at the Kona Kai Resort, MM97.8-Bayside (t 1-800/365-7829, w http://www.konakairesort.com; $301 and over), which is also distinguished by its lovely orchid house and rather unique art gallery. Delicious, fresh seafood – as well as chunks of alligator served like chicken nuggets – is available at Snapper’s, 139 Seaside Ave, at the end of Ocean View Avenue off US-1 at MM94.5-Oceanside (t 305/852-5956), while Harriette’s, MM95.7-Bayside (t 305/852-8689, open till 2pm) serves good breakfasts.
