Tips on Visitng Cambodia

Hi Everyone, I would like to ask travel tips on what is needed before going to Cambodia?

My partner and I have been dreaming of going to this place (most specifically in Angkor Wat), but from what I heard Malaria is very popular in this country.

I would like to know what safety precautions should I do first? Should I go see my doctor and request for a vaccine? How many days should I take the vaccine before the flight to Cambodia? and how long will this vaccine last?

Should I get insurance for this?

Angkor Wat is really magical and we are really on the verge on planning to go there.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance!

Hi, have a look here for all the practical info on visas/vaccinations etc you need

It answers all your questions.

The only other advice I would give is yes, get insurance, it is always necessary. And yes, Malaria is a high risk in Cambodia according to the CDC and prophylaxis is recommended (there is no vaccine). Go and see your GP or – even better – specialist travel nurse before you go, as they will be able to advise you which type is best for you based on your own individual medical history. Make sure you leave enough tiime as you may require a test dose to see if you will have any side effects.

Have a look here to get more info on Malaria and Dengue fever.

I hope this helps? If you have any more questions just let me know.
