HIking in the south of India

I’m planning to participate on an organized trip to India in December/January and we’ll end up around Varkala/Thiruvanthapuram in the south. I would like to extend my holidays with a week or so, and looking for some good hiking or kayak-areas. I prefer trips for several days (not only some hours a day in between), but both with or without a guide is interesting.
