cooking class in Sri Lanka

Hi there

I wondered if you have any recommendations for a cooking class in Sri Lanka? Planning my honeymoon and would love to include one!

Thanks
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

If you are based on the south coast, you could try a cookery class at Mirissa, which is a lovely place to go in itself. Two cooking courses that come recommended are at the Amarasinghe guesthouse (Rs.2500; http://www.amarasingheguesthouse.com) and the Dewmini Roti Shop & Guesthouse (Rs.2000; http://www.facebook.com/DewminiRotiShop). You can book about a day in advance for either, or you could get in touch with them before your trip to ensure a booking.

Hope that helps. I’m very jealous that you’ll soon be enjoying Sri Lankan food!

  • Hello Sarah, I am from Belgium but I have lived in Sri Lanka for several years. You should find a mother who can explain you the sri lankan cooking method. That is more fun. The mother of a tuk-tuk driver or in your guesthouse or….. they can show you the real sri lankan way. Enjoy!!and congratulations!!!
