Hey Freddy! Well, as nowhere in Costa Rica is more than 9 hours from the capital, your options are wide open. La Fortuna in the Zone Norte is a pretty cool tourist hangout, and the area around here is a giant adventure playground, focused on Volcán Arenal. Not far from here is the hugely popular Monteverde where you can get your fill of cloudforest, guided night tours, canopy tours, zip lines…

The beaches on the southern Nicoya Peninsula are pretty special and you can’t go wrong kicking back at Santa Teresa / Mal País – these are also great beaches to learn to surf at. An author pick in our updated Rough Guide to Costa Rica (coming out in October) is kayaking around Refugio de Vida Silvestre Curú, watching wldlife and camping on the beaches. Enjoy every minute.

  • Hello Freddy, There is some must see spots in Costa Rica you can´t miss, close to the capital, Poas Vulcano, Waterfalls La Paz and Coffee plantations Doka, then you should go to Arenal vulcano area and then Monteverde. Manuel Antonio is another one and if you want you can add couple more days in the beach in Guanacaste, just before Manuel Antonio. That will cover all your likes. Here is some pages with lots of information about what to do in every spot.
